The Belvedere 21 today is part of the Belvedere complex with its Baroque palaces and extensive gardens. Originally, the former "21er Haus" was designed and built by Austrian architect Karl Schwanzer as Austrias Pavillion for the 1958 World's Fair in Brussels. After the fair, the building was re-erected in Vienna and adapted for hosting exhibitions of contemporary art throughout the year. In 2002, the building was transferred to the Belvedere and is now being positioned as a venue for art, performance, music, film, and discussions.
